On December 19, the breathtaking Immaculate Conception Church in Trenton, NJ, was transformed into a haven of holiday wonder as it hosted Sounds of Christmas, a benefit concert, performed by Father Alphonse and the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea.
This marks the first year the renowned ensemble dedicated their beloved holiday performance to benefit Mount Carmel Guild, and the result was nothing short of spectacular.
From the moment guests entered the church, they were met with a feast for the senses. The warm glow of festive lights, lush greenery, and ornate Christmas decor set the tone for an evening of timeless holiday music. The orchestra, under the masterful direction of Father Alphonse Stephenson, delivered a performance that stirred hearts and lifted spirits. Every note resonated with the joy and reverence of the season, as classics like Silent Night, Ave Maria, and Adeste Fideles echoed throughout the great halls in a captivating tapestry of holiday magic.
Soprano Victoria Cannizzo and baritone Kenneth Overton were mesmerizing. Their emotive and powerful voices brought the music to life, enchanting the audience and adding a dramatic flair that left families and individuals alike spellbound.

Before the orchestra began, Mary Inkrot, Executive Director of Mount Carmel Guild, addressed the audience, offering heartfelt thanks on behalf of the Guild’s Board of Trustees. “We are deeply honored to be the chosen beneficiary of this incredible event,” she said, before sharing an overview of the Guild’s vital programs and services, including their food pantry and home nursing care. She encouraged attendees to visit the Guild and discover the many ways they can support its mission to serve the most vulnerable in the community.
Mary also expressed her gratitude to the evening’s sponsors, including The Bank of Princeton, the Tuchman Family Foundation, the Inverso Family, and Eet Gud Bakery. She gave special recognition to Paul Pennacchi and Tracey Destribats for their instrumental roles in organizing the event, ensuring its success for the Guild’s benefit.
