Mount Carmel Guild’s 29th Annual Gala was a night of joy, giving and gratitude. Held October 18th under the theme, “Let’s Grow through Giving,”, the event radiated beauty and charm with over 200 guests at the elegant Trenton Country Club, ready to celebrate in dazzling evening attire, supporting the Guild’s vital work.
From the moment they stepped into the warmly lit foyer, attendees were greeted with smiles and a sense of purpose that defined the night. Among the line-up were Mount Carmel Guild Mission Members including the Most Reverend David O’Connell, Bishop of Trenton who offered prayer, other parish representatives across the Diocese of Trenton, business leaders, sponsors, and friends - all brought together by a shared dedication to service.
The evening’s MC, Daren Miller, who also represents the Guild as Director of External Affairs, guided the program with expert style. His opening remarks set the tone, underscoring the Guild’s mission to serve vulnerable communities and the essential role of public support. “My friends, tonight’s about celebrating, not just our impact but the people who make it possible and that means YOU,” Miller expressed. “Thank you for your unwavering support and belief in our work.”
In her remarks, Jane Chrnelich, Chair of the Guild’s Board of Trustees offered thanks to the Bishop of Trenton, the Guild’s staff, volunteers, Gala Planning Committee and donors for their dedication and service, raising a glass in toast to the 2024 Honorees.
“Tonight is also a time to recognize our inspiring honorees,” she said. “Their commitment to the needs of the Guild has provided so much for so many.”
She was followed by Mary Inkrot, Executive Director, who greeted the crowd with warmth and gratitude. “The support you provide tonight makes a tangible difference, as every dollar raised helps Mount Carmel Guild continue its mission of serving those in need.”
Inkrot echoed heartfelt appreciation to Guild Mission Members and supporters, saying, “I am deeply grateful for the generosity that you, our Mission Members, have shown over the years. You have helped us keep our doors open and our services available to those who need us most.”
But perhaps the biggest highlight of the evening was the awards presentation, where nine individuals and organizations were recognized for their outstanding commitment to the Guild’s mission.
Ann Schwimmer and Ana Chrnelich were presented with the 2024 Guild Appreciation Award, while Paul Pennacchi received the Guild Civic Champion Award.
Denise and Michael Foley, alongside Kathie and Mike Castellano, were honored with the Bishop Thomas J. Walsh Award for their contributions to the community and the Rotary Club of Trenton received the Good Neighbor Award. Michael Murphy received the Community Service Award, with Tom Defalco accepting on his behalf.
Each presentation was met with thunderous applause, and guests cheered as recipients expressed gratitude on screen in heart-warming videos, many acknowledging the importance of the Guild’s work and its impact on the lives of those they serve.
Adding to the evening’s excitement was a silent auction, organized for the first time using the newly introduced ClickBid online auction software, generously donated by Guild Mission Member, John Wagner. Bidders could scroll through bespoke items on their mobile devices, adding an interactive element to the gala. The silent auction accompanied other fun opportunities, including a gift pull, restaurant raffle and wine pull, all designed to engage and excite attendees while raising much needed funds for the Guild.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Guests praised both the evening’s spirit and the night’s program.
As one guest remarked, “It was a perfect blend of joy and purpose. You could feel the love for the Guild and its mission in every corner of the room.” Another attendee reflected, “It’s truly wonderful to be surrounded by so many passionate people, all here to make a difference.”
Attendees in elegant gowns and sharp suits could be seen taking advantage of the included red carpet photo-booth, generously donated by Capture This Photo Booths. The vibrant colors, shimmering fabrics, and tasteful accessories brought an undeniable charm to the event as guests mingled, shared laughs, and exchanged warm greetings.
This year’s gala would not have been possible without the generous support of sponsors. Each played an essential role in making the evening a success.
From corporate partners to community supporters, their commitment allowed the Guild to host an unforgettable night.
As the Guild’s largest annual fundraiser, the gala continues to be a cornerstone in sustaining its programs and services.
