Dear Friends,
Last week Mount Carmel Guild maintained our regular operating hours at the Guild Food Pantry. A pre-packed bag was offered outside at a safe distance to ALL who came. I would estimate that we helped over 350 households in five days. Each day the number seeking help increased significantly.
Our Community Support Program staff is small, and all those available are in our Food Pantry working hard to help to supply food to as many families, as possible. Our Home Health Nursing Program registered nurses are in frequent telephone contact with patients and are assisting with medication management daily, to the best of their ability. Our staff is amazing these past few weeks, and I am truly grateful for their dedication. Many thanks and prayers from our care receivers and supporters lift our spirits!
Next week, the food pantry hours continue in the morning from to 9:30 -11:30 am. This allows staff time to prepare nutritious, healthy food for the next morning. Our strategy and goal is to move people quickly through any line that may form. As I write, we have an ample supply of food.
How can you help? First, stay well and practice "social spacing". Second, donate online to the Guild. The services we provide to our vulnerable, low-income care receivers are imperative. Right now providing food and care for the community of Trenton and the greater Mercer County area is our priority, fundraising is not. But, without our normal fundraising taking place, I can’t deny that it is a growing concern and ask that you donate through our website. Each generous gift will help keep our operations going.
Please share this message. We cannot abandon the poor.
With hope,
Mary
